The City’s current General Plan was prepared in 1997 and, since that time, Lancaster has experienced rapid growth and many other changes in and around the City. A new General Plan will provide a “blueprint” for growth and development in Lancaster over the next 25 years and will include long-range goals, policies, and maps addressing important community topics ranging from the natural environment to public health and safety to transportation to economic development.

The General Plan will incorporate ten elements that focus on specific topics.

  • Community Vision
The Community Vision describes the overall goals and visions for the future of Lancaster emerging out of the community workshops, online survey, and other means of community input. The Final Community Vision Report is now available!
  • Plan for Physical Development
The Plan for Physical Development describes Lancaster’s built environment in 2030. The Plan will include policies and maps identifying land use designations and population estimates.
